Validating Key Engagement Accelerators

Student engagement is a key predictor of academic success and closely linked to outcomes such as attendance and behavior. As understanding of engagement evolves, measurement tools must be grounded in strong theoretical frameworks. This study evaluates the student engagement domain of the MI Student Voice Perception Survey, which includes 12 items organized around five engagement accelerators.

The Voices of the Many Outweigh the Voices of the Few

A macro-analysis of the Spring 2023 results suggested that, on average, students struggled most in the domain of social-emotional learning and least with student engagement. Should district-wide changes be made based on these results in assumption that this is representative of the whole student population? ...disaggregation of data is vital when making these decisions to ensure that all student voices are being heard.
